EXPEDITION

2. simple and fortunate

This track serves to represent my feelings and thoughts as to how fortunate I am in my life, given how I felt about many things in my life while producing this project.

Originally titled “fortunate,” I included “simple” as well because the track itself is very simple in terms of how it was actually produced. The music was actually composed at first as a string ensemble piece, but I transferred the MIDI data into Logic Pro and produced the rest of the track from there. This is the second track I have produced. I was very fortunate that I even got the ability to produce what I had so far in the moment that I had finished producing this track. Most of my life, I have been incredibly fortunate and have been very thankful for everything that I have, everything that has been done for me, and everything that I have done for myself. With that being said though, most of the time surrounding when I have been producing this EP, there are still many things in my life that stressed me out or made me upset. I guess that is just the game you have to play when learning the ropes of life - right?

A major inspiration I had for this piece in general was Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings.” I was actually thinking about titling this track “Adagio for Synths,” but I ended up deciding to name the track something that artistically aligned with the narrative of the EP. I think that if I decided to produce something with that title in the future, it would be an actual produced cover of Adagio for Strings.
