EXPEDITION

7. existential pause

This track serves as a dramatic and ponderous aside, but ultimately, conclusion.

This is technically the second to last thing I have produced so far. It was also supposed to be the penultimate track, but towards the end of production I decided that this track would be the conclusion because 1.) I was already behind in terms of when I wanted to release the EP, and 2.) the track, musically, fits the narrative of the EP best if it was the last track - and it is! In the future, I might decide to release a “deluxe version” of this EP, including the actual final track I was working on and maybe some additional tracks to go along with the narrative.

The dynamic of the track is fairly narrow, but the texture and character of the piano are intended to make up for that musical shortfall. One thing that I have discovered as I have produced this EP is that my experience and vision with production might be narrow, but it can not stop me from pouring all of the love I can into my music until I am happy to release it with the world - and I think that the musical content of this track is reminiscent of that.

This track is heavily inspired from the music of Jerry Herman’s “Hello, Dolly!” and Leslie Bricusse’s “Pure Imagination,” from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
