EXPEDITION

4. verdi*

This track serves as a representation of ambition - and as the track was originally titled - “drive.”

At first this track seems like another track utilizing ambient synths, albeit rhythmic because of MIDI arpeggiation, but the texture is intended to suddenly switch to progressive rock after roughly a minute in. The sudden switch in texture is meant to represent the sudden amount of ambition I got to produce an EP, which I got once I finished producing this track. Once production for verdi* was finished, I knew that I wanted to produce more and turn what I made so far into an EP.

This is the fourth track I have produced, and it is the first track that utilizes the many sound libraries and a drum sample that I received as gifts through family. This support gave me a “drive” into production and ever since I installed everything, it has been like being a kid in a candy shop experimenting with everything that I have found so far, which makes me even more excited to see what I can do once I expand my tools and resources.

While there wasn’t any melodic inspiration for this track, Magdalena Bay’s “Tunnel Vision” is a huge musical, thematical, and textural inspiration for this track. This track is also one of two tracks that have scrambled titles and an asterisk* at the end of their titles. This is intentional - both of these tracks’ project files became corrupted while I was producing this EP, and the renderings that I have are the only existing and functional files that I have for the tracks.
